Wounded Cormorant

While walking along the Meewasin Trail just by the weir I noticed a Double-Crested Cormorant holding it’s right wing at an odd angle.  Sometimes I see Cormorants with both wings held out as if to dry their feathers.  This bird was acting quite differently so I snapped a picture and later when I enlarged it I could see a metal object and line attached stuck into the wing.  At the bottom of the line I could see some metal weights attached and had to believe the most likely problem was a fishing line that was caught in the bird’s wing.  I have not been able to see the bird again so don’t know what happened but suspect it would not survive without removal of the hook and line.
I feel sad for the poor bird.
