Spores, spores and more spores. Just one of the important components of healthy compost. I know… such an exciting topic for a nature blog. Anyway, as I was one shovelful into turning my compost pile I noticed these tiny mushrooms sprouting from the decomposing material. They were gloriously smiling at me and holding up their tiny, fancy umbrellas, no bigger than a child’s fingernail.

Beautiful, Trent. Mushrooms like tiny frosted and jeweled umbrellas. You and your camera find loveliness everywhere. Maybe wee compost elves topple them and use them in the rain to fly and visit their compost neighbours?
Who knew? These little wonders of nature!
