Rotten Snow

Melting snow banks along icy pathways present with deep slashes of rotting snow, crusted with dirty grasses, gravel and other debris. Radio announcers constantly complain about the ongoing cold weather, and late spring.

A small nudge in my attitude to the ongoing cycle of ‘sun-cold-water-ice-melting-freezing’ helped me look deep into the rotting snow.  Powerful sun rays penetrating the cold air has resulted in a most unusual snow melt.   Ice transformations within the crusty snow present as delicate miniature jewels held in their setting with an ice bezel. This is definitely a lying on your belly kind of experience.
