Return of the Peregrine

I was delighted today to see a Peregrine Falcon sitting on top of the Renaissance tower.  This has been a home for the falcons for a number of years. The first picture shows the falcon in position and the next two are cropped closeups and are quite grainy as a result.

Some other delights included the following birds.

White-winged Crossbill, male. These birds stayed around all winter and seemed to have a feast on the abundant cones on the spruce trees. The cross in their bill works well to access the seeds in the cones.

House Finch, male.

Red-breasted Nuthatch.
