Walking before sunrise along the river
Crisp cold air slaps your nostrils as you breath in
Muted whites dance among muted grays vying for rays of slowly rising near solstice sun
Crystals of hoar frost pile upon each other bending the backs of the shrubs and grasses
Magpies hunt for frozen apples releasing cascades of shattered hoar frost
A Sun Dog forms before my eyes revealing bubbles of rainbow color
