What a wonderful weekend with friends at Elk Ridge Resort. The Boreal Forest was at it’s finest with barely sub-zero temperatures, freshly fallen snow, recently set ski trails winding through snow laden forest and bright sunny skies.

Hoar frost sparkling in the sun subconsciously guided me to the sunniest, glistening gems just waiting to be photographed.

Woodpeckers, Elk, Squirrels, and Deer all posed for pictures along the way.

A Gray Jay realizing a moment in the sun came out to thank the Royal Canadian Geographical Society for it’s nomination as Canada’s national bird.

The group made a late night tribute to Canada’s 150th. birthday.
